…and I'm weird.

For the month of December I’m participating in & blogging the daily prompts from reverb10. Some people are taking this seriously. I am not.

December 8 – Beautifully Different. Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful. (Author: Karen Walrond)

*yawn* Well folks, it took 8 days for presumptuous prompts to bore me. What makes me beautifully different? Everything. I’m not what you call normal. I revel in my uniqueness of attitude & spirit. I don’t worry about if you, or anyone, likes me. I like me. My boyfriend, family, friends and cat all like me. I’m the real article. What you see is what you get. I’m happy with me and so are they. Partially because I’m beautifully different than so many others.

What do I do that lights people up? Oh, plenty. I’ve been known to enrage a person or two in my time. Goes with the territory. Yes, I’m aware that’s not what the prompt means. I care as little as our cat Carlin (above) does.

December 4 – Wonder. How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year? (Author: Jeffrey Davis)

First snow of 2010. While it’s pretty now, I’m sure I won’t feel that way in about 6 weeks. No, this doesn’t apply to the prompt at all, but it’s pretty, isn’t it?

December 3 – Moment. Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors). (Author: Ali Edwards)

Hate the moe.ment (but I do love moe.! Check them out if you’re not familiar.) pun. But here’s a recent moment pun that made me feel happy to be alive. Watching my love, screwing around on a bass, in our home. Happiness.

First Night of Chanukah

In a secular household? We are. This is how we do it. Sweet potato latkes and gumbo. Great dinner or the greatest dinner?

Arami: my new second home

It seems my idea of blogging is posting pictures of amazing food I’ve eaten. Well, we went to Arami tonight. It was so amazing I’d consider living near hipsters just to be closer to it. I’ve already put in a request to Patterson to eat there on a weekly basis.

While the cheese, wine & swine is amazing, let’s not overlook their stunning vegetables. Like my favorite: the butternut squash. This reappearing on the menu makes the cold weather a bit easier to handle.

Hot Doug’s

There are no two finer words in the English language than “encased meats” my friend.

Patterson & I had our friends Elwood & Sharon in town for a few days. We’d be terrible hosts if we didn’t take them to Hot Doug’s, right?
